Shepherds Bush Post Office under threat
Yesterday I was contacted by Post Office Ltd who informed me that they plan to ‘relocate’ the main Crown Post Office on Shepherds Bush Green.
They are consulting on closing and disposing of the current site at 65-69 The Green, and opening a new Office inside WH Smith’s in Westfield some 450m north of the current site.
I’m very concerned to hear about this move, as it follows on from main Post Office closures in Hammersmith and West Kensington, and ‘temporary’ closures of the sub offices in St Ann’s Road and on the BBC Media Village site.
This is the last Post Office in the area in a dedicated building. It is in an accessible town centre location, and in my experience is always busy.
This would also be a further service gone from the Shepherds Bush Green area, as both Morrisons and HSBC have said that they are to close their local branches.
The consultation runs until 7 December, and I hope a lot of local residents, whether regular or occasional users, will respond. Here is the link.
Could you also let me know your views? I will be meeting with Post Office Ltd next week to discuss their plans, and to ask for further details. For example, they say the same services will be provided by directly-employed staff, but not how many service points or staff there will be.
It would be very helpful if you could send me an e-mail with any thoughts, and also let other local residents know, as in my experience these closures are not well advertised.
